My service provides you with COUNSELLING, MINDFULNESS COACHING AND STRESS MANAGEMENT for adults 17 years and above. I work from my home where I have a quiet, peaceful room set aside. The first appointment is for us to meet to find out what has brought you to counselling and if we can work together: the connection between client and counsellor is key to success and positive change in your life. The way forward may be short term solution focused therapy or longer term counselling for deeper issues.
I also offer "Walk and Talk" therapy, which is just like it sounds—the client and the therapist are outside walking during therapy instead of sitting inside the therapy room. Research has consistently shown that exercise and connection with nature can significantly impact depression, anxiety and stress while improving overall mood. It is increasingly apparent that walking is good for your physical and mental health.
I work holistically with clients looking at the person as a whole, gaining an understanding of the bigger picture of a client's life using a multi-model integrative approach. Each and every one of you are individuals and you all have your own characteristics and idiosyncrasies of which I take into consideration to provide a counselling service that is effective and enables you to understand yourself in your own way using your own sense of self, together with my experience, knowledge and professional competence.
It can be quite daunting, the thought of talking to a counsellor about personal problems: just remember it is a professional service and I follow ethical guidelines and have counselling myself periodically. I adhere to my professional governing body's code of ethics including confidentiality. Counselling does require you to take responsibility for your own behaviour, and to make some changes, but those changes can lead to a far more harmonious life, with greater peace of mind. The counselling process does not only take place in the counselling room, it continues between each appointment and after you decide to end your counselling you will have tools and strategies you can use with whatever life throws your way. Especially in today's ever changing world where most of us experience many stressful situations and it's been documented and reported many times in the press that approximately 75% of GP visits are associated with STRESS. There is a clear correlation between stress and disease. Maybe it's time for you to address and reduce your stress.
I truly believe that we all have the answers to our own problems and I am there to facilitate you to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and find those answers. This enables you to feel empowered, autonomous and confident in your own ability to trust yourself to make choices and decisions in order to make the necessary changes. Counselling is a process, and as a therapist it's greatly rewarding to be with a client and watch the process come to fruition and see a client gradually live in a more satisfying, harmonious and resourceful way.

During my training I studied the works of Carl Jung, Sigmund Freud, Carl Rogers, Eric Berne, John Bowlby and Elisabeth Kubler Ross all who influence my work.
Having a knowledge of various different approaches is beneficial to clients as 'one size does not fit all', therefore the therapy can be adapted. Knowing and using counselling theories is of course vital in my work, I also fully believe that the professional therapeutic relationship between client and counsellor is absolutely vital in how successful the therapy will be. Knowledge of the theories and providing a safe, respectfully confidential, trusting, empathetic and congruent environment without the client feeling judged is fundamental to my practice.
